JUNE 12:  M.K.O ABIOLA, AN ACCIDENT OF HISTORY, NOT A HERO OF DEMOCRACY

Many people have been praising and regarding Bashorun M.K.O. Abiola the acclaimed winner of the june 12, 1993 presidential election as the hero of Nigeria democracy, this is a fallacy. Abiola is not an hero of democracy, he is just an accident of history who was lucky to have been  voted by the majority at the poll.

Anybody who is a student of history will know that Abiola was over-ambitious and desperate to hold office, the real heroes of democracy are the people  who faced the military and wielded guns in their hands, most of them lost their lives, different body parts and even their properties and families in this fight.

Let it be know that is this same Abiola that worked against Chief Obafemi Awolowo, with the help of the "ebora owu" who was the then military head of state by using his wealthy influence to make sure shehu SHAGARI won the 1979 general election. It was the same Abiola that was  friends with all the past military head of states, thinking by doing so he would be allowed to rule.

About some years ago, Al-mustpha who was the chief security officer of General Sanni Abacha made it known that all the coup de tats that has been happening in Nigeria was sponsored by a wealthy business man and this can be linked to Abiola because he was the only  business mogul that was friends with all the military head of states including Abacha that jailed him. His sources of wealth can be linked to the (ITT) SAP programme, all thanks to Gen. Ibrahim Babangida. Abiola was used as a stooge by the north to get themselves  to power. When he later realized that he (M.K.O Abiola) has been a fool all this while it was already late. He was betrayed by his own because he compromised all along.

When Fela sang international thief thief (I. T. T.), he was referring to people like Abiola who was greedy, overambitious and ready to do anything to gain power.

Let me round up by saying June 12, is declared as the  democracy day because it was the day Nigeria set out to exercise their fundamental human right which is to Vote and it is believed to be free and fair election but was annulled not because of Abiola.
